It was indeed a historical event at the 40th edition of Miss Nigeria beauty pageant held over the weekend at Eko Hotels, Lagos with the high and Mighty in the corridors of Showbiz industry in attendance. The very colourful and well attended event saw the emergence of Miss Anambra Chioma Obiadi Stephanie as the 2016 winner of one of Africa’s oldest pageant – Miss Nigeria
The pageant content which had about 37 contestants on stage representing the 36 states and FCT was keenly contested with side attractions of comedy, musical performances and arresting dance displays from the contestants. The contestants who had top notched stars and pageant professionals as part of their judges also had nollywood diva Rita Dominic as part of the headline judges. Also one of those who entertained the crowd to arrest their attention was star art Tekno.
The high point of the event is the presentation of official confirmation letter to represent Nigeria at the 2017 Miss Intercontinental World featuring over 90 Countries across the world. The CEO of Miss Intercontinental Africa and African Director of World Beauty Organisation Chief Prince Donatus Okonkwo gave the Miss Nigeria the exclusive franchise for the international contest with a resolution of part ownership of the Nation’s brand contest.
Presenting the letter to Miss.Chioma Obiadi he said” We congratulate you on this feat and officially confirm you as the country’s representative at the world contest come next year…we hope and pray that you fly the nation’s flag with pride and return eventually with a head held high”. Prince Donatus Okonkwo who is also the Managing director of Zzini Media, assured the management and the winner of his unalloyed support to ensure the queen reigns supreme to attract national honours and international recognition.
